DIVE INTO SOFTWARE / | ||
dive into audio | ||
This selection of audio software is derived from numerous
sources and out of years of sporadic audio work on a linux workstation.
Like any list, it is equally interesting and important to know what has
not been included as what has. For an almost comprehensive list of free
audio software, please refer to Dave Phillips' [http://linux-sound.org] The brevity of this list is meant to capture your attention and set you in the right direction in audio production. It may even spare you the agony of testing the hundreds of applications that are available today. Hopefully, it will shed some light on the diverse potential of available acoustically-oriented free softwares. In general, I've tried to pick some players, some editors, some DSP tools as well as some just for their peculiarity, character or importance. At the same time, I've tried to take care to include softwares of various complexity, including those with and without graphical interfaces. Also, a specific application had higher chances of making the cut if it was available for multiple operating systems. If you are interested in more, you might want to install the debian multimedia distribution at [http://www.demudi.org]. It is a linux distribution oriented toward music and multimedia, and includes audio software for the beginner and advanced. |
