Suite à la diffusion en septembre dernier sur ∏-Node de MAKE ME A SIGNAL, un programme de 4h heures de streaming de signaux radio conçu par 12 artistes et organisé par STWST48x7 à Linz, La Générale accueille trois artistes, Adriana Knouf, Shu Lea Cheang, Martin Howse, pour une rencontre informelle autour de différents projets en cours :  "Constructed Amateur Warblings" d'Adriana Knouf utilise la variété des transmissions numériques des radioamateurs pour mettre en avant leurs qualités sonores et esthétiques ; "Dissolution Testing" de Martin House est une série de x* transmissions particulaires et impulsives qui peuvent être décrites comme des signaux d'essai actifs, errants ou révolutionnaires.

MAKE ME A SIGNAL fait la proposition suivante : "Cyberhacking, vie virale-pandémique, désir d'autonomie envers à la cyber-hégémonie — les ondes hertziennes du spectre électromagnétique incarnent le potentiel de s'écarter d'une vie centralisée. Liée à l'électrodynamique du nœud terre-ciel-solaire-galactique, la transmission radio permet d'utiliser des circuits électroniques relativement simples pour engendrer des effets à grande échelle. Afin de nous préparer aux temps à venir — lorsque nos fragiles réseaux numériques ne fonctionneront plus correctement et que le spectre électromagnétique deviendra notre principal moyen de communiquer — le programme radiophonique MAKE ME A SIGNAL – Prelude to a RADIOTOPIA, pensé pour le temps long, cherche à matérialiser un ensemble expérimental d'approches du spectre radioélectrique à large bande permettant d'ancrer les concepts artistiques dans le réel, et qui préfigurent les nouvelles façons d'être de nos futurs potentiels".  

En collaboration avec Franz Xaver (Stadtwerkstatt), Shu Lea Cheang et Adriana Knouf travaillent à l'élaboration du sommet RADIOTOPIA prévu en juillet 2022 sur le Stubnitz à Hambourg. Ce rassemblement est une invitation à explorer plus profondément les politiques de l'espace hertzien et à discuter de projets de réseaux radio à grande échelle.

ANT CLIMBING TREES. FISH SENDING FEEDS.
a signal mixing noise cooking meeting at P-Node

Following ∏-Node’s radio stream hosting of MAKE ME A SIGNAL, a 4 hour 12 artist radio signal streaming project hosted by STWST48x7 in Linz this past September, P-Node invites the three artists - Adriana Knouf, Shu Lea Cheang, Martin Howse for a casual gathering. Adriana Knouf’s Constructed Amateur Warblings employs the variation of digital amateur radio transmissions to foreground their sonic, aesthetic qualities.  Martin House’s Dissolution testing is a series of x* particulate and impulsive transmissions which can be described as wayward or revolutionary active test signals. 

MAKE ME A SIGNAL stated, “Cyberhacking, viral-pandemic living, a desire for autonomy from cyber-hegemony—the Hertzian waves of the electromagnetic spectrum manifest potentials to swerve away from centralized life. Tied to the electro-dynamics of the earth-sky-solar-galactic nexus, radio transceiving can utilize simple circuits that engender wide-ranging effects. To prepare ourselves for times to come - when our fragile digital networks may no longer function properly and the EM spectrum becomes our primary way to signal each other - the durational radio program, MAKE ME A SIGNAL - Prelude to a RADIOTOPIA, materializes an experimental set of approaches to the wideband radio spectrum that make artistic concepts real and that may in turn become new ways of being in our possible futures.”  Together with Franz Xaver (Stadtwerkstatt), Shu Lea Cheang and Adriana Knouf are planning the Radiotopia summit scheduled for July 2022 at the Motorship Stubnitz in Hamburg. 

This gathering invites P-Node radio community to further explore the politics of the Hertzian space and discuss  proposals for grand scale radio network projects.
