Liverpool-based FACT is the UK's leading organisation for
the exhibition, support and development of artists' film, video and new
media projects. Since 1989, FACT has commissioned over 100 digital media artworks including Cave, a large-scale video installation by Mark Wallinger, in partnership with Milton Keynes Gallery, Southampton City Art Gallery and Tate Liverpool. In 2001, FACT presented Crossing Over 6, a festival of digital film culture previously held in Europe and the US, with Liverpool the first UK host. FACT commissioned twelve new works for Crossing Over 6, later screened at the 2001 Edinburgh Film Festival. FACT's biennial Video Positive festival is the UK's premier showcase for artists' work with video and new technologies, and has run since 1989. The Other Side of Zero: Video Positive 2000 took place in Liverpool during 2000. Now FACT's new centre will provide a permanent specialist venue for film, video and digital media art.
