	a brief history of kingdom of piracy <kop>
	<KOP> is jointly created by Shu Lea Cheang, Armin Medosch, Yukiko Shikata <KOP> was commissioned in 2001 by the Acer Digital Art Center (ADAC) in Taiwan for ArtFuture 2002. A pilot website, [http://kop.adac.com.tw] was launched in December 2001 and presented with a press conference at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipai, Taiwan. In April 2002 the leadership and direction of ADAC changed. At about the same time a major anti-piracy initiative was launched in Taiwan. <KOP> became a politically sensitive issue in Taiwan and ADAC withdrew its support. <KOP> was then premiered at Ars Electronica 2002, and shown at ISEA 2002, Nagoya, Japan. FACT, Liverpool, invited <KOP> for the opening of its new building on 20th of February 2003 and generously enabled the addition of new work and the production of DIVE CD ROM and booklet.
